Newspaper clipping from the Holland Sentinel about Lidia Sanders, The 1997 Fiesta Queen winner.

Lidia Sanders creates conversation in her community. She lends a voice for younger members in her community, so that they can be heard.

"I think it's important for adults to listen to young people. A lot of other people are looking for youths' views, but young people are sometimes too shy to speak up."

Throughout the timespan as a Queen, from applicant to crowned Queen, their community is valued highly. Queens are expected to show (and have shown) commitment and participation in their community. These women have become a staple in their community and someone to look up to by younger generations.
