LAUP History

Where are we now?

The city of Holland remains a very diverse area. However, the issues LAUP has brought up directly affect the diversity statistics of Holland area businesses currently. These statistics are a comparison to see the impact that the press on this issue had on the progress of the community. Today, we still see a “downtown Holland” that is primarily white owned business. This is the same issue LAUP was trying to bring to light in 1978, and that same fight is still continuing to be fought to this day. Please read the following article for a comprehensive look at the city of Holland's diversity goals for 2021. https://www.hollandsentinel.com/story/news/politics/government/2021/03/27/holland-outlines-city-diversity-efforts/7004653002/
