Conclusion

Fiesta was not just a festival with a beauty pageant, but rather a time to bring the Latinx community together and share different subcultures by showcasing traditions.  Fiesta provided those who are of Latinx descent, but less exposed to their culture, the chance to learn more about their history and participate in their culture. Fiesta educated others who are not of Latinx heritage, to learn how they can help make a difference and to see the world from a different perspective.

This digital exhibit is made possible by a partnership with the Hope College Van Wylen Library, members of the Fall 2021 IDS395 cultural heritage course, Joint Archives of Holland, MI, Holland Museum, and the Latin Americans United for Progress (LAUP).
