Origins of Latinx Culture Through Music, Dance, and Fashion

This newspaper article talks about the origin of Mariachi, Duranguense, Jalisco, etc. This music was played at Fiesta and each originated from a different Latinx culture.

Fiesta not only aimed to represent many Latinx cultures through traditional attire, dances and music, but also aimed to educate others in the community. Newspaper articles and other descriptive material highlight the cultural origins and meanings. Through understanding and knowledge, Fiesta created a stronger sense of belonging for those in the Latinx community.

Duranguense is a genre of Mexican music originating in Durango and is typically played using the saxophone, trombone, and bass drum with a fast tempo. It is closely related to the Mexican styles of banda and norteño.
